Hi, I’m Dr. Aimee, a dedicated psychologist with a passion for helping leaders in emotionally demanding roles.
At Thriving Principals, my mission is simple: to provide the tools and support needed for leaders to do what they do do well – without sacrificing themselves.
With a deep understanding of occupational health and wellbeing, specifically in education, I provide comprehensive consultancy services tailored to principals, school leaders, and educational system leaders. I offer individual therapy, supervision, and workshops. My approach is respectful, inclusive, and evidence-based, ensuring personalised support that respects age, cultural beliefs, ethnicity, gender, and sexual identity. I am deeply committed to helping leaders thrive in these VUCA times.
My experience as project lead on the Principal Health and Wellbeing project for Professor Phil Riley from inception to 2019, means I have invaluable insights into what school leaders face and what they need to succeed and stay well. My PhD looked at the emotional labour and demands of educational leadership, and how burnout, job satisfaction, and quality of life can be damaged over time. I passed with no revisions, and now my research findings inform my work. I’m also an Educational and Developmental psychologist with a background in behavioural neuroscience who supervises other psychologists, and those skills prove super-useful too.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with and for beautiful people who’ve taught me excellent lessons and if we work together, you likely will too. I’m here to help you find balance, flow, resilience, and joy in your leadership journey.
I love my people, those I’ve chosen as well as those I’m related to – I cherish my roles as a mother, wife, daughter, friend, and peer. My interests include discovering new patterns, reading, pondering beauty, exploring everything I can, and spending quality time with my family and mates. I find joy in the simple pleasures of life, I love navy blue and purple, sunlight and velvet, ocean waves and ancient rocks, stars and rainbows, hydrangeas and lisianthuses, and fantastical beasts and roller-coasters.
